Ms. Sass addressed members of the Plant City Bar Association on November 10, 2011. She discussed the current laws related to employment cases as outlined in her handout, General Practitioners Beware! Employment Claims You Should Know About.

Ms. Sass braved the elements this November on her trip to Seattle, Washington, to participate in a panel discusion appropriately named Rainmaking Tips in an Economically Challenging Environment at the Fifth Annual ABA Labor & Employment Law Conference. This panel was part of the Leadership Development track and Ms. Sass' presentation was entitled RAINMAKNG: The Art of Increasing Business for Your Law Firm.

Ms. Wise addressed the State Bar of Georgia at its October 27, 2011 seminar, Tips for Litigating Plaintiffs' Employment Cases, in Atlanta. Her topic of discussion was Professionalism and Avoidance of Sanctions.

Ms. Everhart has been voted President-Elect of the Florida Chapter of the National Employment Lawyers Association for the upcoming year. Congratulations, Yvette!
YVETTE D. EVERHARTAs Florida NELA's Vice President of Programming, Ms. Everhart finished coordinating its 2011 Summer Conference at the Don CeSar on St. Petersburg Beach. The theme for this September weekend was "Clear Skies and Smooth Sailing for Employment Law Cases." Ms. Everhart arranged for several judges to speak, as well as other special guests. It was an informative and fun weekend.

In September, Ms. Sass presented at the 2011 Florida NELA Summer Conference, "Clear Skies and Smooth Sailing for Employment Law Cases." Her discussion was based on the topic, Valuing a Case.

In August, Ms. Sass spoke at the Sterling Education Services, Inc.'s "Employment Law Update: Contemporary Challenges in a Changing Workplace" seminar on the topic, Privacy and Social Media in the Workplace. This topic is of interest to both employees and employers as it deals with current issues in the electronic workspace.

Ms. Sass spoke to members of the National Employment Lawyers Association in New Orleans this summer during their Annual Convention. Her topic was Shaping Your Client's Expectations from Intake to Settlement.

Ms. Sass also spoke in June and presented The Rise of the Machines: Discovery and Spoliation Issues in This Age of Technology to the attendees at the Advanced Labor Topics seminar. This event was sponsored by the Labor and Employment Law Section of The Florida Bar.

As a member of the Technology in the Practice and Workplace Committee of the American Bar Association's Labor & Employment Law Section, Ms. Sass handled the topic Discovery and Subpoenas for the Next Generation of Workplace Technology at the National Symposium on Technology in Labor and Employment Law this April in New York City.

In March, Ms. Sass spoke at the Hillsborough County Bar Association's "Emerging Legal Issues: Employment Lawyers and Corporate Counsel" seminar. Her topic was Top 10 Mistakes Made by Employers.

Mr. Papas spoke at the 2011 Winter Conference of Florida NELA in Orlando on February 19th regarding Voir Dire: Picking the Best Jury. He shared the stage with the Honorable Harvey E. Schlesinger from the Middle District of Florida and Archibald J. Thomas, an employment attorney from Jacksonville.

Ms. Everhart's first event as Vice President of Programming for Florida NELA went off without a hitch on February 17 through 19 at Florida NELA's 2011 Winter Conference, and was a great success.

Mr. Kersey was sworn in to the United States District Court, Middle District of Florida, on February 17, 2011. Congratulations, Josh!

Ms. Everhart had the pleasure of addressing future lawyers at Stetson University College of Law during Professionalism Day in January. She spoke on practicing in public interest law from an employee attorney's perspective.

Ms. Sass presented at the American Bar Association's 4th Annual Labor and Employment Law Conference in Chicago, Illinois. Her subject was Up In the Air and Everywhere: E-Discovery Beyond Email, Cloud Computing and Virtual Servers.

Ms. Daniels and Mr. Jones both presented at the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and City of Tampa Division of Community Affairs Training Seminar on September 17, 2009. Mr. Jones spoke on Discharge and Discipline, while Ms. Daniels covered the Americans with Disabilities Act.
