November 7, 2018 – Cynthia Sass was honored to be part of the program, A View from the Bench: I Wish I Didn’t Know Now What I Didn’t Know Then, presented at the 12th Annual ABA Section of Labor and Employment Law Conference in San Francisco, California. Ms. Sass joined Judge Waverly Crenshaw, Judge Elizabeth LaPorte and Judge Rebecca Pallmeyer, along with her co-Moderator Sean Gallagher, as the judges discussed the lessons they have learned on the bench and how they would apply those lessons to the practice of employment litigation.

September 14, 2018 – Cynthia Sass co-presented with Alicia Koepke of Trenam Kemker, at the Effectively Litigating Employment Cases from Inception Through Trial program sponsored by the Labor and Employment Law Section of The Florida Bar. Ms. Koepke and Ms. Sass discussed Where’s the Witness? Preserving Witness Testimony Through Trial and provided insight into ways to preserve a witness’s testimony early in the process through statements, video, and depositions, as well as effective and ethical methods for deposition preparation. Then they offered some effective methods to convert the witness testimony into evidence at both the summary judgment and trial stages.

November 2018 – Cynthia N. Sass has again been asked to act as Southeastern Editor of the 2018 BNA/ABA supplement to Employment at Will: A State-By-State Survey published in November. She will also be co-authoring the Florida Chapter with Yvette Everhart and Brian Koji.

November 7, 2018 – November 11, 2018 – As part of her duties as Employee Vice Chair of the Annual Section Conference Committee of the American Bar Association’s Section of Labor and Employment Law, Cynthia Sass coordinated four separate speaking tracks for the 12th Annual Section Conference. The topics included Civil Service Reform: Whistle blower Retaliation, Supervisory Discipline, and Mandatory Training and Reporting Requirements in the Federal Sector, attorney practice skills and professionalism with It’s You, Not Me: Tips and Strategies for Dealing with Difficult People and Writing Your Way to the Top: Effective Communication and Writing Skills to Enhance Legal Practice, public sector issues like the fundamentals of Due Process Rights for Public Employees and Life after Janus, and in the constantly changing technology aspects, Bots, Apps and Digitizing: The Future is Bright or Is It? and Preparing for and Taking a 30(b)(6) Deposition of a Technology Expert. May 18, 2018 – Yvette Everhart, on behalf of the Executive Council of the Labor and Employment Law Section of The Florida Bar and the Law School Liaison Committee, presented The Florida Bar Labor & Employment Law Section Dean W. Gary Vause Scholarship to a deserving member of the 2018 Graduating Class at Stetson University College of Law on May 18, 2018. This award is presented to a student whose excellent performance and demonstrated interest show promise of achievement in a labor and employment law career. March 24, 2018 – Cynthia Sass spoke at the March Midwinter Meeting of the Employment Rights and Responsibilities Committee of the American Bar Association’s Section of Labor and Employment Law in Clearwater, Florida. She was joined by other panel members discussing Strategic Use of Forensic Experts in Prosecuting and Defendant Non-compete/Trade Secrets/Business Tort Claims. The panel of experts and practitioners explored the cost and benefits of hiring experts before and after filing suit, as well as solutions to pesky ESI issues.

February 13, 2018 – Yvette Everhart was among the distinguished speakers at U.S. Representative Kathy Castor’s Sexual Harassment Training and Forum on February 13, 2018. This free event took place at the Hillsborough Community College Dale Mabry Campus in Tampa, Florida. Several other experts also serve as panelists, including survivors of workplace sexual harassment, and they spoke on the issues of preventing and reporting sexual harassment.YVETTE D. EVERHART
February 9, 2018 – Yvette Everhart spoke at the ADR in Labor and Employment Law Committee Midwinter Meeting in Clearwater Beach, Florida as part of a panel discussing Class Action Waivers from the Advocates Point of View.
